Human Geography and Urban and Rural Planning (Sino-French Cooperation) Program: its predecessor is the Resource Environment and Urban and Rural Planning Management program that began to recruit students in 1999, and it is a key major constructed by Ningbo University. This major focuses on cultivating high-quality international compound professionals with basic professional theories, skills and literacy, based on land and space planning and land management in the coastal areas, and competent for the research on coastal urban and rural planning and economic and social development in French-speaking countries and the application of 3S technology.

      The Sino-French cooperative talent training mode mainly introduces and takes example by the advanced experience and technology of Western countries in land use and territorial space planning, and forms an international talent training process with distinctive professional characteristics. (1) Lay emphasis on the integrated teaching of French language, professional courses and academic lectures, and highlight international and compound high-end territorial space planning talents. (2) Give full play to the advantages of the research-based practice of geography undergraduate program in the data acquisition and spatial analysis of regional resources, environment and human activities locality and geographic information, and establish an innovative talents training process that meets the requirements for the regional and land-sea integrated administrative region geography major (geographical science teacher training, human geography and urban and rural planning), and form a "three-three-three" research-based field practice model.

      About 50% of the graduates in this major entered Chinese and foreign colleges and universities for further study, about 30% were admitted as civil servants of the places where the students come from in the fields of natural resources or ecological environment, and the remaining graduates were employed in land planning and tourism planning companies in cities of Yangtze River Delta, such as Ningbo and Hangzhou.
